The New Ruger Hawkeye Long-Range Target Gives Hunters Better Precision At A Lower Cost

Ruger manufactured a Big Magnum that combines a fantastic stock with a 5R barrel with muzzle brake. The 2018 release Ruger Hawkeye Long-Range Target (LRT) rifle gives every bang for your buck with its large magnum chambering and price. The Ruger Hawkeye LRT’s SRP is $1279.00, but the best “street price” is now under $1000.00. You could pay twice the price of the LRT and not get a .300 Win Mag that shoots better.

With its tempting $1000 “street price,” it offers a high level of performance for its price. For a factory rifle, it has superb accuracy and an excellent two-stage trigger. Its +20 MOA scope rail is also noteworthy. The stock work’s toe works well with a rear sandbag and you can attach a 3″-wide bag-rider to its front M-LOK rail. This gun is marvellous for bench target usage.

For shooters who are into punching paper and ringing steel at 1000-1700 yards, the Ruger Hawkeye LRT also comes in 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC variants — with the target market being shooters who want to work on their long-range shooting chops without making their bank accounts palpitate.

The original .300 Win Mag chambering variant is excellent for big game hunting, but its use for hunting is doubtful — at eleven pounds before any optics or accessories (averaging at thirteen pounds after optics, rings, slings, etc.), the rifle is a bit too weighty for practical usage in the open field.

The Hawkeye Long-Range Target features a heavy-contour barrel fitted with a Ruger Precision Rifle Hybrid Muzzle Brake. Meanwhile, the 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel features 5R rifling and is free-floated.

A target-grade, adjustable trigger helps deliver a clean break. Moreover, the Mauser-type controlled round feed of the M77 provides positive case extraction. Additionally, a three-position safety should be familiar to Ruger fans.

A 20 MOA Picatinny rail sits atop the receiver, while #8-40 screws add to elevation capabilities. The rifle ships with an AI-style magazine.

The two-tone stock features an adjustable comb and length of pull. M-Lok rails and QD attach points deliver versatility.

The Hawkeye Long Range Target rifle features a Mauser-style 3-position safety, plus a large, Mauser-type bolt release on the left side of the action.
